Vibrant salon returns

After last month’s packed event, this popular event returns to The Printworks on Wednesday June 29 at 7.30pm with more of the best in literature, poetry and spoken word. The lineup features Paula Varjack who is an artist working in theatre, spoken word and video. Her work explores identity, our relationships with each other, and with cities. She has performed at numerous arts festivals and cultural spaces including Tate Modern, Glastonbury Festival, Berlin International Literature Festival, The Victoria & Albert Museum and the Southbank Centre. She recently developed a new solo show Show Me The Money - exploring the economic reality of being an artist in the U.K. Will Davis is the award winning author of My Side Of The Story, Dream Machine and The Trapeze Artist, and former books editor for Attitude magazine. He has written for various publications including The Author, The Guardian and The Writers’ and Artists’ Yearbook. In addition to this he also a prize winning aerialist, specialising in rope - a discipline he also teaches at the National Centre for Circus Arts. Also there will be Jules Grant who is from Manchester and now lives in Brighton. She has an MA in Creative Writing from Birkbeck College, University of London. She worked as a barrister for over twenty years. Her debut novel is called We Go Around In The Night and Are Consumed By Fire. Toby Litt has described it as ‘everything you could want a novel to be – beautifully written, funny, agonising, unflinching. It reads like a classic.’ Ginny Dougary is an award-winning journalist and writer. She has lived in London, New York and Sydney, and now lives in Hastings, were she and her partner M-J have set up The Liberty Choirs - creating choirs in prisons and psychiatric units. As a journalist, Ginny has been up close and personal with many of the great and good, and her subjects include Michael Portillo, the Duchess of York, Norman Lamont and Jeanette Winterson. Antony Mair has lived in Hastings for four years, not having come down from London but up from France. In previous lives he was a commercial lawyer in the City and a French estate agent in the Dordogne. He completed a Creative Writing MA at the University of Lancaster in 2015 and is regularly published in the small poetry magazines.
