Bomb found at Horsham quarry

Police were alerted when a bomb was found at a Horsham quarry today.

The bomb - believed to be a World War 11 explosive shell - was discovered by workers in a quarry off Langhurst Wood Road at 7.40am this morning (September 18).

The bomb squad were called and excploded the shell.

A police spokesman said: “It was safely detonated by a military Ordnance Disposal team at 11.15am.

Work had continued elsewhere in the quarry meanwhile and no evacuations were necessary.”
