For the first time, the carnival joined forces with the annual Worthing Fire Station open day and it is estimated up to 15,000 people visited on Saturday.
Carnival chairman Ann Barlow said they worked together to plan different, focused areas across Broadwater Green, Ardsheal Road and the fire station.
“We have never seen Broadwater so buzzing,” she added.

“We planned it very carefully, so there were different areas, and that worked well. I don’t think there was anything we could have done to make it a better day. It was absolutely perfect.”
Stalls lined the edges of the green, with a central arena and space for this year’s Walking and Wheels Procession, a first for the carnival.
Issues with insurance meant the usual road procession could not go ahead this year, so instead of big floats, there were various people on foot and wheels.

Mrs Barlow said: “The procession worked really well, considering we have never done it like that before. We will be looking at whether we keep it on the green next year or get sponsorship to go back on the road.
“I am glad we did it that way. People lined the route and cheered them on. The prince and princess loved it and we will use them for the cheque presentations over the coming weeks.”
A team from Buddys café pushed a trolley laden with a knitted tea, firefighters followed with a push-along fire engine, plus there were samba bands and belly dancers, too.
