Defence of Lauren Bravo

IN RESPONSE to Elsie Anderson complaining of Lauren's "ageist" comment in last week's issue, I would like to defend Lauren as an avid supporter of her column.

Although Lauren's comment comparing her laptop to "an 87-year-old trying to get out of a chair" may have seemed slightly offensive to someone who is actually 87 and maybe still sprightly, it was only meant as light humour and I'm sure was not intended to offend.

I do find it a shame that people take offence at the smallest things, and I think it's probably this knee-jerk reaction to be offended which has caused all this "political correctness" that we now have to adhere to.
