A six-hour search for people in a small dinghy off Bexhill ended with nothing being found.

The RNLI Hastings Lifeboat Station said both boats were launched at 11pm after reports of people entering the water in a small dinghy.

The crews searched the water off Bexhill and were joined by the coastguard helicopter.

However, following an ‘extensive’ search, nothing was found.

Crews returned home at 5am, a spokesman added.
