Pupil in hospital after fire at Hastings school
Three fire engines raced to Ore Village Primary Academy on Rye Road shortly after 11.30am, following reports of a fire.
Initially it was feared that pupils or staff may be trapped in the building, but thankfully everyone was accounted for when crews arrived.

Hide AdThe small blaze, which started in the cloakroom, is believed to have destroyed some children’s coats and bags.
One pupil was given oxygen and treated at the scene for smoke inhalation before being taken by ambulance to the Conquest Hospital.
It is not known how the fire started and the cause is currently being investigated.
A spokesperson for Ore Village Primary Academy said: “There was a small fire today at Ore Village Primary Academy, Hastings.

Hide Ad“It was found quickly and then contained by the fire department.
“All staff and pupils were evacuated from the school immediately and all children are safe.
“Pupils were allowed back into the school and were collected by parents or guardians.
“We will continue to work with the police who are investigating the source of the fire.
“The school will open again tomorrow.”
