A MATHS teacher was reduced to tears, after the hard work of one of her students culminated in the girl achieving the highest grade in her GCSE exams.

Jane Andrews, a maths teacher at The Littlehampton Academy, was teary-eyed when student Erica Fuller opened her GCSE results on Thursday morning and received an A* in maths.

Erica, 16, said: “It’s better than I expected. Maths has always been my subject and I really wanted to get it for miss. She’s put so much effort in this year, she looked as emotional as I did.”
