Sparrows sign off on a high as league champions

Horsham Sparrows were crowned league champions in their final season together as a team with victory over Maidenbower.

Needing to win the match to secure the title, they went behind to an early Maidenbower attack.

Sparrows continued to press and were rewarded with a goal from George Leigh to make it 1-1 at half time.

In the second half Sparrows were always the more threatening team and two further goals from George Leigh gave Sparrows a commanding lead. David Carruthers with a great solo run, saw his first shot blocked by the Maidenbower keeper but pounced on the rebound a Sparrows won 4-1 to see them finish as league champions in their final season together.
